Yoga and cake
I often find myself needing to whip up a family meal in a throng of rioting children, crashing sugar levels, the debris of a tiny kitchen still reeling from breakfast and packed lunches. Trouble is i’ve long felt in a bit of in a rut when it comes to putting the same old thing on the table. I needed inspiration- and what better way to get some than to spend a rainy January Saturday at a yoga and vegan cooking workshop. Urban Yoga’s Nikki Meadly and Portuguese vegan cooking Goddess, Olga Ferraria offered a fantastic opportunity to learn some new recipes with their day of yoga and vegan cookery.
So, after a morning’s yoga we were given liquid nourishment in the form of Olga’s Green Smoothie and set about soaking linseeds and cashew nuts, massaging kale, transforming Jack Fruit into vegan Pulled Pork. Then, without any shred of dignity between us, dove into the blender for the remains of the raw chocolate ganache mixture. We finished the day with a glorious 4 course meal AND went home with tuppawares full of delicious food we couldn’t quite manage. All in all a rather good day.
The good news is, I fed my boys chickpea flour flatbreads and red pepper and walnut dip this evening. The bad news is I have a raw avocado chocolate cake sitting in my fridge that tastes really, really, really good…..
